So finally, we made it up towards Roan Mountain. It was about 50 degrees up here. We didn't quite make it to the top of Roan Mountain because it was at about this point that we noticed it was 3:50PM... and the place where we dropped off Virginia's car to have the oil changed would be closing at 5. So... it was time to get moving.
Heh-Heh.. Virginia was supporting them.
Here are some crazy hippie type folks hiking the Appalachian Trail. It was a rather large group, with some beautiful scenery for them to look at.
Here's the point that we stopped at. From here, there was a sign that said there was a toll or entrance fee of some sort to get up to Roan Mountain. We needed to get back to Boone, and weren't really willing to pay whatever fee it may be, so the 1.6 miles to the place to pay didn't happen. But, we were only about 600ft worth of elevation away from the peak anyhow. So... from here, it was a kind of quick ride back to Boone, getting back just in time to get Virginia's car back. Then off for some dinner, some Sangria, and a little Catch Phrase. I don't think you could have a better Friday.
